Did you enjoy the heatwave? The british summer could well and truly be over after a week of sun, but still these summer essentials will keep you going through warm, muggy days. They are my essentials, what are yours?

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact

There are mixed reviews about this product. As with any cushion foundation product, you do get less foundation for your buck. It’s offset by the fact you use less, but I do see peoples’ point. I however love the application style of it and mixed with other products, have benefited from this application style over those products to create a lighter base. It’s also SPF 35 which is essential in summer and the citronella smell reminds me of Thailand which I adore. Possibly not for everyone, but I’m a big fan.

Dior Diorshow Pump ‘N’ Volume Mascara

If like me you suffer from chronically short eye lashes, you will be in the never ending search for the perfect mascara that gives the illusion of length. I’ve tried fibre lashes, growing potions and a whole host of other things. I generally now just wear falsies!

However, the pump n volume is a great product to make the most of even short lashes for those days where falsies aren’t a great option.

*Warning* You only need to pump once…

MAC Fruity Juicy Love At First Bite

This is the perfect colour for summer! The pink is bright with just the right amount of coral undertone to lift for those sunny days. MAC steered away from the retro matte for this colour and it was wise as it can be so hard to maintain in heat and with this, you get some hydration. You reapply, but it’s worth it. Unfortunately not the best picture of me (I’d just given birth a few days before) but you get the gist.

Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick in Las Salinas

This product gives a perfect fresh look to your cheeks and also doubles pretty well on the lip too. In this pic, I’ve done both in addition to mixing on the lip with a coral colour. Sometimes the matte is just too much for a fresh summer face and this beach stick is a great addition to that ‘dewy’ trend. It lasts so well during the day too.

NYX Ultimate Brights Palette

It’s no secret on my instagram just how much I adore this palette. It’s great for adding those ‘pops’ of colour and in summer, there’s no excuse not to experiment with brights! I often mix this with my Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette and Urban Decay Moondust palette to achieve full looks, however, the reasonable price and versatility of this palette makes it the essential. It is by far the best non high end palette of this kind available in the UK. I challenge you to find any better…

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush – Incandescent Electra

This blush is pure gorgeous. It has such a lovely shimmer to it and provides such a fresh pop of colour to the cheek. When used with a good contour, it shapes the face so well. It’s super soft to the touch and really compliments all the pink I’ve been wearing lately along with my ever pinker hair!!!!

Prime and Set

No look is complete without a decent prime and set of your face. I love the Urban Decay Quick Fix Spray as it embodies summer so much. It leaves your skin hydrated and cooled as well as smelling of coconuts! It reminds me of the beach and is a great misting toner. I actually apply it after a normal toner to give some oomph.

Once the face is done it’s time to set it. I use a setting powder as well as the Urban Decay Chill Spray as the spray doesn’t tend to be quite enough to set my face in the heat but the reason it made the top list is because of its finish. My skin is naturally very dry and so this adds to the hydration after makeup application giving a really nice subtle ‘dewy’ finish (without looking wet!). Perfect for summer both day and night without taking anything away from my seriously invested eyes. I love it!

So there we have it, my summer essentials along with my gorgeous Kate Spade bag, Versace sunnies and summer scents make the heat (and rain) totally bright, light and this mummy more yummy.
